Let’s not even try and hide it: “Seattle Song” takes its cues directly from Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
And though it doesn’t have the screaming vocals of frontman Kurt Cobain, it does have the powerful sounds of his guitar riffs, Dave Grohl’s drumming, and bassist Krist Novoselic’s understated groove.
When it came out, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was the grunge rock anthem and “Seattle Song” goes a long way towards replicating it.
